2022 Rescue Missions
May 2022
Elliott Anthony Christopher James
Elliott was seen living in a ditch on the side of the road in Greenwood, LA. The woman who saw him posted his picture on Facebook, and Tyrrell was able to go look for him the next day. He was in the exact same spot as he had been seen the day before. Using fast food sandwiches and chicken nuggets, Tyrrell managed to leash him and get him into the car. He initially went to the local shelter, but he came into danger of euthanasia. Tyrrell went to pick him up, and he has been with her ever since. He is the first of her Shreveport adoptees.
June 2022
Spice, formerly Munchkin
On Judy Garland's birthday, a movie theatre in Shreveport was showing The Wizard of Oz. Tyrrell arrived to watch the movie with her family, but on her way inside she heard a tiny "meow." This precious baby kitten was curled up outside the cinema. Tyrrell wrapped him in a shirt, stuck him in her purse, and he made not a peep for the duration of the film! Later, at the vet, it was revealed that the poor boy had a botfly larva in his neck. After getting that removed, the little boy went home with Tyrrell until he was adopted locally. He is now a fat and happy housecat!
July 2022
Seamus the Famous
When Seamus was just about six months old, he suddenly showed up at someone's house in the Highland neighborhood of Shreveport. A neighbor alerted Tyrrell, who picked him up and very quickly fell in love. He is another member of The Mutt House's permanent pack.
July 2022
Daisy and Puppies
Daisy arrived at someone's house and decided to have her babies under their hedge. The homeowners put out a call for help, and Tyrrell joined a group of other rescue volunteers who worked together to get the family to safety.
July 2022
Lister St. Puppies
These puppies and their mama were abandoned when their human owners moved. The mother dog was left tied up with no access to food or fresh water. Tyrrell and another local rescuer picked up the puppies while an Animal Control Officer (ACO) had to assist with apprehending mama. The whole family made it safely out of the shelter; the puppies went to an out-of-state rescue, and the mama was adopted locally!
July 2022
Bones
Tyrrell encountered Bones one afternoon while walking her boy Seamus. Bones started barking at Tyrrell from a driveway, and then he sat down outside an apartment door and barked to be let inside. The owners no longer wanted this sweet boy, so Tyrrell got permission to take him with her. Very soon thereafter, one of Tyrrell's neighbors adopted Bones and gave him his name! He is now much healthier and living his best life.
July 2022
Kool
Kool was spotted with another dog on the side of the road, eating trash. Tyrrell was only able to get Kool, but after completing his stray hold at the shelter he got to go on transport to an out-of-state rescue!
July 2022
Bagel
This precious baby was stuck in a ditch near a local hospital. A group of nurses saw him and put out a call for help. They shared their food with him, and gave him his name in the process. Tyrrell and one of the nurses were able to work together to get him out of the ditch, and he spent a few nights with Tyrrell before going to the good people at the POLA Foundation. Tragically, Bagel's condition was so poor that he did not survive very long after his rescue, but we do know that he was very well loved in that time.
August 2022
Brider
Brider was wandering around Tyrrell's neighborhood all alone. Luckily, the power of social media helped his humans and Tyrrell make contact, and Brider was reunited with his family before long!
August 2022
Candy Corn
Candy Corn was abandoned in Shreveport, tied to a tree near -- but not in -- the dog park. No one claimed her during her stray hold, so Tyrrell brought her home. A fellow rescuer got Candy Corn a spot on transport to the northeast, where she was adopted!
September 2022
Remesne
Tyrrell and another rescuer went looking for Remesne because they thought she resembled a different dog, one who had been missing for a while. They could hear this sweet girl barking at them from under a house, but they could not get to her, so they set a trap. Luckily she went on in, and the team was able to get her to the local shelter, where she was adopted!
September 2022
Elm, formerly Schatzi
Elm was a teeny, tiny kitten trapped in a storm drain near Mall St. Vincent in Shreveport. A mall employee could hear her pitiful meows from the parking lot, but no one could get to her. Tyrrell and another volunteer set a trap, which the baby luckily went into, and they were able to get her to safety. She had a terrible injury to her eye, but happily she was able to keep it. Shortly after Elm was adopted, she was diagnosed with Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP), an often-fatal disease. With the help of her devoted new human dad, Elm survived and is now stronger than ever!
October 2022
Ducky
Ducky spent several days wandering around the local duck pond, evading any humans' attempts to get close to him. After a while, though, he became exhausted, and he decided to collapse on someone's front porch. Tyrrell picked him up -- she literally had to pick him up and carry him to the car -- and he stayed with her for almost a year! Finally someone fell in love with this sweet, special boy's picture on the shelter website, and he was adopted.
